Projects

TERRA increases the social and economic welfare of rural and impoverished Bolivian communities while mitigating impacts from climate change. TERRA provides financial assistance, technical expertise, education, and on-going monitoring to develop vital water resources and to improve the management of natural resources.

Altiplano Water Quality Testing
Acid Mine Drainage in Bolivia
STATUS - Begins Aug. 2009
TERRA and Stanford University tests water quality in 30 villages. Results will help local people and direct future TERRA projects.
Pata Herra Cancha - Developing and Protecting Water

TERRA is supporting Water For People in their efforts to protect and deliver spring water to each house in the rural village.

2007—2008 Projects


Altiplano Acid Mine Drainage Initiative
Acid Mine Drainage in Bolivia
STATUS - Stage 1: funded; Stage 2, 3: not funded
TERRA will educate Bolivians on AMD impacts, build a low-cost remediation system and replicate the system in willing towns.
Chaquiri - Water Storage and Distribution Network
Water system
STATUS: completed; on-going monitoring
TERRA has built a ferrocement water storage tank and water network for 25 families.
Capiri - Irrigation Well and Soil Management
Water system
STATUS: completed; on-going monitoring
TERRA has drilled a 260 foot irrigation well.

2006 Projects


Chiquipata Baja - Well drilling

Chiquipata residents were ecstatic when a high-yield, artesian aquifer was tapped 47 meters below the surface.
Cobremayo - Latrine Construction

TERRA and a Peace Corps volunteer built dry latrines in a town with no bathrooms, improving sanitation and health.
Jankusaya - Well Drilling and Wind Turbine Pump

TERRA, Save the Children, and Jankusaya partnered to drill a 190-foot well that provides clean dirinking and irrigation water.
Oruro - Greenhouse Project

Sewenkani - Computers for Remote Education
