Selling the Coca Leaf

Selling the coca leaf

Coca is chewed predominantly by rural farmers. Many middle to upper class people, who largely reside in the cities, look down upon those who chew coca. A day's worth of coca costs about 20 cents; a kilogram, or 2.2 pounds, costs roughy 3 dollars and can supply the hardest of chewers with a few week's worth of coca.
